We are very happy to announce that GFengine is available for download. With the Gravity Forms add-on, we want to make creating forms in WordPress easier and more efficient. GFengine adds several new fields to Gravity Forms. In addition, the add-on adds many new options to Gravity Forms that make your forms even more beautiful. In this blog we look at the different functions of GFengine.
8 new field types for Gravity Forms
Gravity Forms contains a lot of useful fields, such as the e-mail address and product field. Yet we have noticed that sometimes it lacks advanced elements and HTML elements. That is why GFengine contains eight new field types for Gravity Forms. Among these fields you will find, among other things, a signature and range slider field. Below is a complete list of fields that are added by GFengine.
With the button field you can easily place a button in your form. You can link to a page on your website or to an external location. It is also possible to open the button in the current or a new tab. Finally, you can give a CSS class to the button to give it the style of your theme.
With the slider field you can easily add a range slider to your forms. You can set it’s min, max and default value, or choose to show a number field next to the slider. The slider works great on mobile devices too.
With the signature field, users can easily add a signature (or simply a sketch) to their form submissions. Very useful when, for example, you make a contractual appointment in your form.
Youtube Video Field
GFengine makes adding a Youtube video to your forms very easy. The field contains various options such as automatic video playback or hiding the controls.
Image (Media Library) Field
With the image field you can easily place an image from the WordPress Media Library in your form. You can set the width and height of the image, and choose to use the image as a link.
With the heading field you can easily place different headings (H1 to H6) in your form. You only have to add the type and the text of the heading.
Autocomplete Address Field
The autocomplete address field makes it very easy for your visitors to fill in their address details. They only have to search for a location and the different address subfields (such as street and city) are automatically filled in.
(GDPR) Consent Field

GFengine’s appearance options
Gravity Forms makes it possible to create advanced forms, but these are often very complex for your visitors. With GFengine we want to make complex forms more clear for your visitors. We do this, for example, by placing fields next to each other or adding a tooltip with additional information.
Choose the width of a Gravity Forms field
Placing fields in columns is already possible in Gravity Forms, but with GFengine we make this much easier. You can simply choose one of the available field widths. You can easily place a name and e-mail address field horizontally next to each other.
Add a tooltip to a Gravity Forms field
You can already add information to a field in Gravity Forms with the description. But sometimes you do not want to show pieces of text directly because the information is not important for all visitors. That is why you can easily add a tooltip to a field with GFengine.
The tooltip will be displayed as a question mark icon in the upper right corner of a Gravity Form field. By moving your mouse over the icon, the tooltip text becomes visible. You can also add links or images to the tooltip.
GFengine’s advanced options
Working with Gravity Forms is wonderful. But management is often a big job for large and complex forms. GFengine adds several advanced options to Gravity Forms that make managing large forms much easier and more efficient. For example, with GFengine you can easily adjust the ID of a field.
Change the ID of a Gravity Forms field
Have you ever wanted to change the ID of a Gravity Forms field? This can be useful, for example, when you do not want submissions to be disturbed when modifying a form. Normally you should program it, but with GFengine it only takes a few clicks. Simply select one of the available field IDs and after reloading the form the ID has been modified.
Change the type of a Gravity Forms field
Have you ever wanted to adjust a checkbox field to a radio button field? It takes a lot of time in Gravity Forms, but with the help of GFengine this takes just one click. Just choose one of the available fields and GFengine ensures that the field type is adjusted. The data (such as labels, the placeholder and choices) are retained and taken to the new field type.
